My hobby is "tinkering with cars" It is what I do for fun. It is what my Dad and I have done together for years and I have tried to get my kids involved as well. I had pretty much finished with what I wanted to do on my most recent project and I was looking for something new. My Dad is in a nursing home now, but he kind of lives vicariously on what I am doing working on my "toys" so I had to get a new project so we would have something to talk about and to get him out of the nursing home occasionally to have some fun in the garage. I have always liked Fords. My first vehicle was a 1970 f 100 and my first car was a 65 mustang. I enjoyed offroading when I lived in Utah and lived near Moab. And ever since I saw Stacey build crazy horse I have been Jonesing over an early Bronco. I love the lines of the early bronco. I like the fact it came factory with a v-8. they are becoming really popular now with the new bronco coming out soon so I figured if I don't get one now I will never get one. so I found this bronco shaped pile of rust for sale on craigslist and bought it before I really evaluated what it would take to finish it. I do not have the skills to do all of the fab work myself and frankly with the complete body being available from northeast classic ford parts I decided it would be cheaper in the long run to just get the new body. on the drivetrain aspect I have always loved the look of dual quads, but I never had a vehicle with that setup. when I saw fitechs dual quad fuel injected setup I decided I had to have it. with that decided I figured I needed an engine that would support it so I ended up getting a blue print engines 408 stroker. backed up by an ax 15 from wild horses and I rebuilt the dana 20. I swapped to a dana 44 front axle and replaced the gears with a 4.10 limited slip, disk brake conversion and warn hubs completed the front axle. I rebuilt the rear with all new drum brakes, and new axle seals. the frame has been powdercoated in a grey flake. I have a wild horses 1.5 inch premium suspension lift and 1 inch body lift. 23 gallon fitech fuel tank and all new lines. there is still a ton of work to do but it is coming along.
