1970 Dodge Dart Swinger

Season

I picked this project because I’m a huge Mopar fan and I previously had a 73 dodge challenger that i sold to buy my wife’s engagement ring. This project is important to me because I wanted to teach my 6 year old son how to use some basic tools and be apart of a project. once it is completed me and my son Mason plan on going to some car shows and maybe a little drag racing as he loves going to New England Dragway. When I got the car 4 years ago it was a shell with no interior and a slant six block that had not run in 7 years. The guy I got it from lost his storage and “planned on fixing it up”. I bought it for $600. When I got home I cleaned out what little was in the car an assessed what needed to be done to the body. Everything was solid except the lower rear quarter panels and the right trunk extension. After the metal work was done (about 10 Months) I attempted my first time at painting a vehicle in my driveway in a makeshift paint booth. As you can tell it is a “Budget” build for me. My son chose lime green as the color. I then tackled all the mechanical stuff. I put a 360 Magnum out of an 01 Dodge Ram in it with a 670 Street Avenger Holley. It has thermal coated TTI long tube headers, Edelbrock RPM air gap intake and a bigger than stock cam. LOL. all used parts i sourced from internet and swap meets. Its backed by a TCI A904 Transmission with a 2000 stall converter, that i also picked up at a swap meet, and still has the weak 7 1/4 rear in it. I do have a 8 3/4 rearend out of a 67 dodge coronet that i rewelded new spring perches onto in the stock A-body location and added a Powertrax Lockright locker to the 2:76 rear gears. would like higher gears for the track but I’ll use what i have for now as i do drive it 30 miles to work almost everday when the weather is nice! It is a work in progress but my son loves it and we’ve since added another boy to our family so maybe the wife will let me do another car for him! Haha. Me and my son love the show and i been a fan of yours since the old Trucks show days.
