I purchased my 1974 Z-28 new in December of 73 off the showroom floor at Terry York Chevrolet in Encino, CA. The majority of work on the car was completed by the end of 1978-79. I then placed the car in storage where it remained for 38 years (then just an old Camaro now a Classic Car) until Feb. of 2017 when I decided to put it back on the street.
- 1971 454 LS7 Crate engine- Purchased in 1975. The engine was originally built by Steve at Motor Ring & Pin. Rebuilt again three years later, in 1978, by Dave Kimblousky at The Balance Shop in Reseda, CA. The final rebuild was done in 2017 by L&R Engines in Santa Fe Springs, CA. Engine size 468, Approximate horsepower and torque; 650+ HP & 700+TQ.
- The 1968 L88 aluminum Heads were purchased in 1977 from Rick Jackson of Rick Jackson Racing in Santa Clarita, CA.
- Hedman Headers (the very first set of ceramic coated headers ever made). Purchased in 1978 and dipped at Aerospace Coatings in Canoga Park
- I installed an Edelbrock Victor Jr. intake manifold and Holley XP 850 carburetor - in 2017 (carb of choice in 1975 was a 1050cfm Dominator)
- Distributor is an MSD mechanical unit with 8mm plug wires & MSD 6AL box-Installed in 2017-2019 (distributor of choice in 1975 was a Mallory Sprint Mag)
- It has braided upper & lower radiator hose covers made from jet fuel line and purchased at Joe Factors Aircraft Surplus Supply in Burbank, CA in 1976
- The timing cover is modified from an Offenhauser unit used for boats-installed in 1977
- 4 core radiator built by Burbank Radiator in 1976
- Turbo 400 transmission- Rebuilt in 2017 by DMC Transmissions in Ventura, CA
- Hughes 3500 stall converter-Installed in 2017
- The rear end is a 1968 9” Ford with a Detroit Locker & 4.11 gears-Set up by Hooper’s Rear End in Sun Valley, CA in 1976
- Brakes consist of a Hydro-boost system with stock 11.5” disks all around-Installed in 2017 by Brian Short at Full Throttle Customs in Fillmore, CA
- Driveshaft- Built by Cannon Engineering in 1976
- Heavy duty U-bolts- Purchased at Burbank Spring in 1976
- Teflon leaf-spring separators-Purchased from Magoo’s Street Rods in Canoga Park, CA in 1977
- Lakewood traction bars-Purchased in 1975
- Leaf-spring blocks-Custom made in 1978
- Body and frame washers-Custom made in 1978
- G-Force sub-frame connector-Installed by Brian Short in 2017 at Full Throttle Customs in Fillmore, CA
- Weld Wheels-Purchased in 1976 from Tire’s By Mark in Canoga Park, CA.
- Radial TA Tires-Purchased in 1976 from Tire’s By Mark on Canoga Av. (still on car after 43 years).
- Lakewood Rollbar-Purchased in 1976
- Fuel cell is from ATL-installed in 1976
- All body, paint, fiberglass and chrome work on the car was completed in 1978. Exceptions: rear roll-pan, exhaust diffuser, side scoops & Boss 429 hood scoop which I built and/or installed in 2018-2019.
- Paint color Porsche Guards Red-Painted in 1979
- Interior is stock except for Lakewood rollbar, B&M gated shifter, Autometer gauges and Procar front bucket seats
- Trunk and front fender panels made and installed by me in 2018-2019
