As a fan of your show for numerous years, I wanted to express my appreciation for your style and genre of segments and products featured on the show. As an avid radio control (R/C) modeler for 30+ years, I also appreciate your placement of scale R/C 4×4 models as props around the work bench and the occasional segment from time-to-time, which brings me to the point of my correspondence. I really enjoy watching the segments on the fan’s projects and, even though my project is on a scale level, I wanted to share it with you in an effort to appeal to your apparent interest with scale R/C models. My personal “Toy Box” includes full scale off-road vehicles and ATV’s as well, but I’ve always enjoyed that virtual realism and endless possibilities, as well as challenges, that R/C modeling provides. I have attempted to depict some of the scale detail in the following photos for viewers who are not familiar with the world of scale R/C models and the realism that peaks the interests and imaginations of so many fellow modelers. In the world of R/C, you CAN have that highly modified crawler, pro-stock drag car, offshore hydroplane, competition aerobatic plane, or whatever thrill is completely out of your financial grasp or realm of sanity! As with the full scale world, the building of the beast is a big part of the fun! This build includes only parts provided in the kit, however, there is an entire universe of after-market CNC’d metal parts to replace many of the heavy duty plastic stock components. Even the oil filled aluminum shocks are based on full scale designs and are fully adjustable, from the weight of the oil to the size of the damper and tension of the springs. This particular kit is manufactured by Axial Racing which specializes in scale R/C 4×4’s to the smallest detail. I have no affiliation with Axial and can only attest to their reputation of quality and scale realism from personal experience with their products.
