Revell Model Car Championships
Our second annual Global Model Car Championships was a great success! We received thousands of entries from around the U.S. and Canada, and were truly wowed by your creativity, attention to detail and craftsmanship. Special thanks to our judges: Bill Bozgan, writer and Research Consultant to Ford Licensing and Archives; Roy Sorenson, publisher/editor of Model Car Builder model car magazine; Bill Coulter, author of many books on model car building including, The Directory of Model Car Kits and feature article writer for Model Cars magazine; David Thibodeau, regular feature article contributor to Model Cars and Scale Auto magazines and winner of Best in Show at the NNL East contest; Bob Downie, regular feature article contributor in Scale Auto magazine and officer at ACME Model Car Club; and Stacey David, host/executive producer of Stacey David's GearZ on Speed Channel, and a builder of hot rods and model cars.
Entrants were required to build one Revell or Monogram brand Muscle Car model, and were judged on their creativity/originality, use of the kit, adherence to the theme, fit/finish and use of color. Our judges certainly had their work cut out for them!
Prizes awarded to the winners this year included:
- A replica of a perpetual trophy,
- the Revell/GearZ Cup, with name inscription
- A Badger airbrush
- A year's subscription to Car Craft and Model Cars magazines
- A year's worth of new releases from Revell (max 12 kits) Assortment of products from Testors
- Embroidered jacket bearing the Revell/GearZ Model Car Championship logo
