Great tip, but I wonder if you couldn't make this even simpler by combining an adjustable hose clamp with the razor blade, using a Vicegrips or even a bench vice to hold the pieces in place while you feed the hose through?
The advantage of the adjustable hose clamp is that you could adjust it to perfectly guide several different sizes of hose for cutting, rather than having to make multiple wooden "triangle" blocks to handle different diameters of hose.

great tip, i needed some last year and it was a pain to do it , but now with this it's going to be wonderfull and can even replace a grommet.
